Do you want to be that person who meditates regularly and wafts around exuding all the calm vibes?! I can’t promise you that will definitely happen BUT I can help you to become a regular meditator, and guide you through different techniques to find what works best for you.

I’m Jacqui and I’ve been devoted to yoga for 24 years and teaching since 2008, mostly 1:1. I especially love to share meditation – the heart and the spiritual essence of yoga. Through meditation you can access your inner realm and drop into what you really feel and who you really are, beyond the thinking mind: your Divine nature of love and bliss.

There is a lot of misunderstanding about meditation. I teach meditation as a spiritual practice. We’re not just going to close our eyes for half an hour and visualise a lovely beach. I talk about things like Shiva, Shakti, goddesses, consciousness, Self and ego. You’ll hear bits of simple Sanskrit (though it will be explained and accessible). There’s also plenty of silence, so that you can truly go within and experience your deep inner essence. You may have to confront yourself: emotions, thoughts and aspects of yourself may come up that you don’t want to feel or face. This is part of it.

There are several advantages to having a personal teacher. We discover and focus on the meditations that work best for you, not the rest of the class. We explore what YOU want to explore, and I get to know you, see what you need and guide you. You can ask questions and share experiences that you may not want to share in a group class. Plus, you don’t have the distraction of other people next to you fidgeting or heavy breathing like you do in class.

 
 

About the session

Each session begins with the breath, to quieten your mind, soothe the nervous system, reduce the stimulation of the senses and prepare for meditation. We practise conscious free breathing and sometimes pranāyāmā (specific yogic breath exercises). The meditations are from classical yoga and classical tantra and may include visualisation, mantra, energy work and goddess practices.

I guide you verbally or silently as much or as little as you like.

Some people prefer gentle verbal prompts as the mind wanders away from the meditation. Some prefer being guided to drop deeply into silence, held in the loving and supported space created by an experienced teacher.
